Fair Trade Egypt
was born in 1998, as a
marketing outlet for
Egyptian artisans, who
may not otherwise have
access to thriving
markets in Cairo and
abroad.
Italian Cooperation,
the Italian nonprofit
and nongovernmental
organization
Cooperation for the
Development of Emerging
Countries (COSPE),
and the Egyptian private
consulting firm North
South Consultants
Exchange (NSCE)
merged their resources
and efforts to transform
FTE from an
abstract marketing
concept into a tangible
reality. Egyptian
artisans can now sell
their unique handcrafted
goods through our retail
store in Cairo,
and reach new customers
and potential clients
through this, our new
website. FTE
seeks to empower local
communities, by helping
them sell their goods at
prices that are fair to
all involved, by
providing continuous
production training,
and by consistently
finding new venues
that showcase these
one-of-a-kind items to
customers the world
over.
Always looking for ways
to better assist our
artisan groups, FTE
has been working hard to
establish itself as a
Fair Trade-based
organization for the
last decade. We look
forward to applying the
principles of this
alternative trade
movement in our everyday
operations.
COSPE
and NSCE are
involved in several aid
projects in the Middle
East and other
developing regions. To
